Because I could not stop for Death, He kindly stopped for me

Who: Lea, Dilan, Aeleus, Even, Ienzo
Where: The Computer Room in the castle of Radiant Garden
When: The reawakening scene of KH3D
What: SUDDENLY ZOMBIES. I mean, uh--after their deaths, the Nobodies wake up restored and whole, back where they had originally fallen. Confusion and FEELS ensue.
Warnings: These are probably going to be some pretty upset former-Nobodies here. Anticipate emotional trauma, and some potential swearing and/or violence; probably won't be any worse than PG-13.

Death did not claim him first. It did not claim him last.

But when the weak coughing fit wracks his body hard enough to rouse him into his rebirth, Axel's first breaths still taste of smoke and sulphur and ash. He feels heavy but hollow, cold and drained and exhausted beyond all reason; it's an effort even to lift a finger, even to open his eyes. "Wh-where? Just what happened to me.....?"

He can't remember feeling this terrible after a fight, ever. It feels like he's been turned inside out, burned raw, scraped clean. It feels like there's some gaping ragged wound in his chest, and he..... he..... Oh, fuck. "Roxas!" The jolt of fear surging through him is painful in its unexpected, sheer intensity; Axel staggers to his feet and immediately regrets it, reeling as he works to keep his balance, trying not to panic as he looks around. He remembers he was protecting Roxas, and all that fire--the Dusks--

.....No. Not Roxas. Sora. Sora, the most precious piece of Roxas, that missing part of him that he'd thrown it all away to return to..... So Axel had thrown it all away to make sure they could stay together, so they could get the justice and the answers they sought. So they could help their own friend in need, too.

Axel catches a hazy glimpse of himself in the glass--he knows he's been in this room before, somehow, even if he can't quite remember why or how--before he turns to scan the rest of the room, eyes lighting on the other figures sprawled out on the floor as the first stirrings of life began to take hold. Dilan, Aeleus, Even, Ienzo..... Yes. Yes, that had to be right. Dilan, not Xaldin--Xaldin would never have dreamed of wearing the guard uniform he'd once sported on a daily basis. And Ienzo and Even--in their lab coats, now? White instead of black?

It's bewildering; he turns back to the glass to look himself over more carefully, leaning in towards the glass and touching his distinctly unmarked cheek. Are they--is he..... back to normal? Is this really humanity.....?

The youngest of them, on the floor between Even and Aeleus, wheezes to life with sudden breath and a harsh expulsion of air, a rough cough, before drawing a frantic and harsh, rattling gasp at the whispered sound of his true name.

He feels like gagging, like vomiting up the clouding clutch of darkness which sends a burning ripple around his head and through lungs like nausea. He reels, trying to lean up weakly on his forearms before collapsing again to the floor, forehead bowed onto his fists.

That power... of Riku, the replica, such strength, and Axel...how could he?

His throat still feels strangled, and it takes the groping tangle of one hand, pulling and tugging ineffectually at silk, to realize that an iron grip is no longer catching at his throat, draining away life. The constriction is only cloth.

Bangs stick to his cheek where his face has been pressed against the cold floor, lying prone. The illusionist's vision is blurred, swimming in and out of focus.
