Necessary Sacrifices
Who: Vexen, Riku
What: As the war draws to an end, so too do Vexen's schemes. Vexen turns to the newest Keyblade Master to help him rejoin the Light.
Where: Radiant Garden
When: Post-KH3
Warnings: Assisted suicide? Consensual murder?
It had taken him..... a much, much longer time to wake up than the others. The injury had been grave, the pain overwhelming. Brutal as the others' deaths had been, they had at least been relatively quick and clean. His demise, on the other hand?
Axel had offered him no such tender mercies. He had burned alive, acutely aware of the agony right until his last moment. Even as a Nobody, it had been..... terrifying. He remembers every second of it, vivid and intense, seared into his memory and seeping into his nightmares like wisps of smoke.
He's not afraid now. Perhaps it's because his heart hasn't had a chance to start growing back yet? Such a process would have been fascinating to study back then, if he'd been aware of it occurring. Now, though..... he doesn't have that kind of time to waste. His job is done.
His family is waiting for him.
So Vexen waits to rejoin them as well, hood pulled up to help melt into the shadow of the castle wall. He watches from a distance as Riku enters the castle, carrying a lifeless replica in his arms and escorted by Dilan and Aeleus. It's only once the boy leaves again--mercifully alone, that makes this easier--that Vexen calls out to him. "Riku. A word, if you please?"
